Health Insurance Tips for 2011

New Year’s Health Insurance Tips for 2011

In 2010, families with employer-based health insurance saw a 14% average increase in coverage costs compared to 20091. Those who went through their employer’s open-enrollment period at the end of 2010 on ‘auto-pilot’ (without paying careful attention to their choices) may find that their current health plan is simply unaffordable when new rates take effect in January 2011. Others who do have the right health plan for their needs may not know how to best take advantage of their coverage in order to save money over the course of the year.
Five Health Insurance Tips for 2011:

* Don’t get stuck with a lemon. Lots of health insurance companies make changes to rates and benefits at the beginning of the new year. By mid to late January, you may be getting your first taste of what these changes mean for you and your family. If employer-based health insurance is no longer affordable, check with your Human Resources department and get to know your options in the non-group market. Keep in mind, however, that until 2014 you may still be turned down for individual and family coverage due to a pre-existing medical condition.
* Check out new health reform-compliant plans. Health insurance companies are introducing new plans to comply with health reform rules that make some preventive care free and do away with lifetime coverage limits. Some older plans may not have to meet these requirements. If you want to take advantage of new health reform protections, work with a licensed online agent like eHealthInsurance to see what’s available in your state.
* Be sure your old plan still fits. Like old cars or houses, an old health plan can feel pretty comfortable, but that doesn’t mean it’s still a good match for you and your family. If you were married or divorced, had children, or gained or lost income this past year, you may be able to save money on medical costs by starting the year with a plan better suited to your needs.
* Don’t pay two deductibles. Many health insurance plans come with calendar-year deductibles. If you’re planning a move or other life changes in 2011 and know you’ll have to switch health insurance plans mid-year, it may be smarter to find a new plan early. Since certain medical claims are only paid by the insurance company after the deductible is met, moving to a new health insurance plan in January or February may help you avoid paying deductibles twice in a single year.
* Fund your HSA early. If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) and want to get the most out of it, fund it to the maximum amount early in the year. That will allow you to use pre-tax dollars for copayments and deductibles while allowing unused money to collect interest for more of the year. Also, remember that in 2011, HSA (and FSA) funds can no longer be used to pay for most over-the-counter medications.

NOTE: Keep in mind that when you switch plans or apply for a new individual or family health insurance plan, you may be subject to medical underwriting. If you have an individual or family plan and developed medical conditions recently, you may need to stay on that plan to keep your coverage secured.

Happy Thanksgiving! FREE Report "7 Simple Keys To Internet Success"

Put free report in subject line and send me an e-mail at:

Michael Taynor was motivated to succeed in the world of home business. On Social Security disability from an injury sustained during his childhood, Taynor was desperate to come out on top. For 10 years, he gave the effort everything he had, signing up with 10 successive programs. With excellent offers and attractive compensation plans, the opportunities seemed like the perfect solution for Taynor. Yet the programs' other common thread - relying on distributors to actually recruit and sell - created a barrier that Taynor simply couldn't overcome, and led him into a downward spiral of failure.

These days, Taynor jokes about belonging to the NFL - "No Friends Left." He can afford to laugh now. The eleventh program he bought into solved his decade-long quest for home business success. "I finally struck gold," Taynor exclaimed while sitting in his Bethalto, Illinois, home. "I made one last bet on Auto Business Builder and it began paying off in the first week!"

Taynor, along with thousands of other people, was attracted to Auto Business Builder's (ABB) simple proposal. The company promised a totally passive solution that encompassed list building, selling, and multiple income streams.

Most people new to a home business quickly learn that they have to be skilled in both marketing and sales. The majority isn't, and frustration and failure follow one after the next. For years, network marketers have been searching for real solutions to these age-old problems.

One company, In Touch Marketing out of Clearwater, Florida, had been helping thousands of home business clients with lead generation and constructing cutting-edge websites. The president of the company, Bob Cefail, had been asked for years to add one more service to its portfolio - selling.

The challenge in providing that service was that In Touch Marketing needed to have a team of extremely qualified sales professionals that could represent a wide variety of home businesses. No call center Cefail checked out met his standards. "There really wasn't a technological solution that could effectively sell multiple programs for distributors," Cefail explained. "I wasn't excited about using standard telemarketing, call centers if you will, because the quality of the salespeople didn't make the grade."

Finally, after months of searching, Cefail found a technology that made Auto Business Builder possible. A high-tech internet-based calling system that anyone could access worldwide made it possible for In Touch Marketing to recruit top pros from around the world.

"I wanted salespeople who were not only good at selling, but who were also involved in the home business world," said Cefail. "I have a giant database of over a million-and-a-half home business prospects. I simply sent out a recruitment email and I was flooded with responses."

The sales force now employed by In Touch Marketing is considered by many to be the best of the best. "In 30 years of sales management, I've never had a team of pros approach the quality of my folks now," Cefail declared. "With the virtual internet calling system I now have, my sales people simply log on to any computer and the system places 100 calls an hour for each salesperson."

Cefail's office is unique in that he has multiple computer panels tracking every phase of his service in real time. One computer screen shows prospect visits hitting all of the ABB member sites that are using the company for prospect generation. Another panel displays the results of live phone broadcast campaigns. Call transfers, answering machine messages, and unanswered calls are shown simultaneously as a phone broadcast deluges thousands of prospects with calls. A third panel displays real-time leads and a fourth displays all sales just as the sale is completed.

If subscribers wish to be passive, the Auto Business Builder system removes all of the marketing, sales, recruitment, and follow-up of customer support out of their hands. Some ABB members, however, want to participate in various aspects of prospect attraction. No one wants to handle the sales actions, but for those who want to build their prospect list through free means, ABB provides training from both a training web site and live webinars.

At the core of the Auto Business Builder system is the 10-point system of selling, which emphasizes follow-up and persistence. Anchored by a hard-core team of professional salespeople, the system works a prospect through a surprisingly robust series of sales steps. All of the ABB member websites contain a piece of software that automatically initiates a telephone call to a prospect after he or she completes the online information form. Imagine the surprise of a prospect when the phone rings and he or she discovers that a live sales professional is on the line, ready to talk.

The next thing that the prospect learns is that he or she can enjoy a $1,200 gas and grocery benefit just for trying the system for a month. The prospect can choose from either that benefit or a significant cash discount. According to Cefail, both immediate sign-up benefits were designed to thwart procrastination.

For those people who don't immediately sign up for ABB, the sales process is far from over. Daily emails are delivered to their in boxes, educating them about the system and inviting them to special live Internet briefings that are offered six times a week. Phone broadcast and daily follow up calls by the ABB sales team continue to pepper prospects. Special incentives to purchase the ABB membership are continuously developed to speed up the registration process. "It takes an average of eight quality contacts to close an ABB prospect," Cefail specified. "This is the type of comprehensive sales effort it takes to be successful in business. Most opportunities gloss over this point."

What surprises many when they first approach ABB are the live Internet events, which are fashioned after the success of hotel meetings carried out by network marketing companies over the past 40 years. The hotel meetings were successful thanks to the power of numbers. When prospects come to a hotel meeting and see that 50 to 100 other people have shown up, their confidence in their own decision to attend rises dramatically. By using the same "strength in numbers" philosophy with the convenience of a computer meeting place, In Touch Marketing experiences sales results that were previously unthinkable. As many as a third of all attendees ultimately sign up for ABB - a statistic most sales organizations only dream about.

Ultimately, the sales machine is not only devoted to signing up prospects for the ABB service, but also to build multiple income streams for each member. "People cannot depend on just one company for their income," cautioned Cefail. "I can't tell you how many times I've heard stories of someone making thousands of dollars with one program, only to have the earnings evaporate overnight. Maybe the compensation plan changes or the company goes out of business. Government regulations can shut them down. The only solution is not to put all of your eggs in one basket."

The ABB sales force initially attempts to close all the member's prospects so that they sign up for the ABB system, thereby earning $200 for each sale. Then, the sales efforts turn toward building the member's existing home businesses. The same comprehensive sales philosophy and system are deployed for this secondary team-building step.

The Auto Business Builder revolution hit an even higher plateau with the recent launch of the ABB Joint Venture Exchange. The singular feature that attracts so many people to ABB involves the ability to participate in over 15 separate mainstream home businesses without having to pay any sign-up costs or monthly fees. This approach eliminates the risk of depending upon a single revenue stream, while paving the road to long-term financial independence.

Offering a veritable buffet of choices, the Joint Venture Exchange allows every ABB member to register for any or all of numerous home business programs. Once an ABB member registers, the ABB sales staff actively markets each approved program to every single one of the respective member's prospects. Now, for the first time, virtually every person starting out in the home business world can enjoy cash flow from a multitude of opportunities.

Thanks to the Joint Venture Exchange, ABB sales staff ratchet up closings, and thus opportunities for success. Just as a shopping mall offers more choices than a stand-alone store, the Exchange presents more than15 different mainstream home businesses. Ranging from weight loss to travel programs, the Exchange has offers that are attractive to virtually every type of home business prospect.

Michael Taynor embodies Joint Venture Exchange's success. After a decade of dead ends, he credits ABB with turning his business - and his life - around. "ABB has built up my prospect list with hundreds of interested people," he attests. "Knowing that they have a good shot at selling something to many of those people makes me so happy that it's sometimes hard to sleep."

ABB's unique revenue-sharing plan showers members with rewards, even cutting them in on upfront commissions earned during the initial sale. A real-world example involving Global Resorts Network perfectly illustrates the generosity of the ABB plan. An initial commission of $1,000 is earned on each GRN sale. ABB pays the sales person a 25% gross commission on the sale, leaving $750. Rather than throwing the member a crumb of the remainder, ABB elected to split the $750 straight down the middle. This 50/50 arrangement thrills ABB members, and enables them to see near-instant returns.

The Auto Business Builder system fits like a glove for home business first-timers who know little about team building, as well as for experienced team leaders who have large lists. The big players love ABB because they can generate an entirely new income stream from ABB affiliates sales, as well as ensuring that a larger percentage of their team is truly active. Plus, they enjoy the luxury of having a sales force handle all of their ABB sales.

The combination of benefits, generous compensation, and professional sales support leaves members giddy with delight and has led ABB to experience ballistic growth. "In the face of a worldwide recession, we have been experiencing double-digit growth rates each week," said Cefail while keeping one eye on his computer panels. "When it comes to innovation in home business opportunities, we really are the only game in town." To get in on that game and get the ball rolling, dash over to

Cigars... Making Money On eBay...

A Short History of Cigars and Tobacco

Have you ever wondered where cigars were first produced? It is widely believed that cigars were first produced in Spain. But before cigars became all the rage in Europe, tobacco was needed to make them. Tobacco is indigenous to the Americas, where native peoples have produced it for hundreds of years. It is believed that the Maya of Yucatan peninsula in Mexico and parts of Central America cultivated tobacco, and even smoked it! Tobacco use spread to other tribes, both north and south. It is believed that its first use in the United States was probably among the tribe along the Mississippi. It wasn't until Christopher Columbus sailed his famous voyage to the Americas in 1492 that the rest of the world came to know tobacco.

It is said that Columbus was not impressed by tobacco or its use among native peoples, but many sailors grew found of the strange plant. Soon it quickly caught on in Spain and Portugal. From there, it spread to France, where the French ambassador Jean Nicot lent his name to the scientific name for tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum). The origins of the word tobacco itself are still suspect, although many believe it is simply a corruption of the word Tobago, which is the name of a Caribbean island. Still others believe it comes from the word Tabasco, a region (and now state) in Mexico.

The first tobacco plantation in the United States was established in Virginia in 1612. More tobacco plantations followed in Maryland soon after. Although tobacco became a popular crop, it was only smoked in pipes. The cigar was not introduced to the United States until the late 18th century. Israel Putnam, an army general who had served in the Revolutionary War, is credited with introducing the cigar to the United States. He had traveled to Cuba after the Revolutionary War and returned with a box of Cuban cigars. Their popularity quickly spread, and soon enough cigar factories were established in the area of Harford, Connecticut, where General Putnam resided.

In Europe, cigar production and consumption did not achieve widespread popularity until after the Peninsula War in the early 19th century. British and French veterans returned to their homelands after years of serving in Spain with their tobacco pipes in tow. Among the rich and fashionable, the favored method of taking tobacco was the cigar. Cigar smoking remains a habit associated with the rich and discriminating of upper society.

EBay Income Possibilities.

If you've ever read an article about eBay, you will have seen the kinds of incomes people make - it isn't unusual to hear of people making thousands of dollars per month on eBay.

Next time you're on eBay, take a look at how many PowerSellers there are: you'll find quite a few. Now consider that every single one of one of them must be making at least $1,000 per month, as that's eBay's requirement for becoming a PowerSeller. Silver PowerSellers make at least $3,000 each month, while Gold PowerSellers make more than $10,000, and the Platinum level is $25,000. The top ranking is Titanium PowerSeller, and to qualify you must make at least $150,000 in sales every month!

The fact that these people exist gives you come idea of the income possibilities here. Most of them never set out to even set up a business on eBay - they simply started selling a few things, and then kept going. There are plenty of people whose full-time job is selling things on eBay, and some of them have been doing it for years now. Can you imagine that? Once they've bought the stock, everything else is pretty much pure profit for these people - they don't need to pay for any business premises, staff, or anything else. There are multi-million pound businesses making less in actual profit than eBay PowerSellers do.

Even if you don't want to quit your job and really go for it, you can still use eBay to make a significant second income. You can pack up orders during the week and take them down to the post office for delivery each Saturday. There are few other things you could be doing with your spare time that have anywhere near that kind of earning potential.

What's more, eBay doesn't care who you are, where you live, or what you look like: some PowerSellers are very old, or very young. Some live out in the middle of nowhere where selling on eBay is one of the few alternatives to farming or being very poor. eBay tears down the barriers to earning that the real world constantly puts up. There's no job interview and no commuting involved - if you can post things, you can do it.

Put it this way: if you know where to get something reasonably cheaply that you could sell, then you can sell it on eBay - and since you can always get discounts for bulk at wholesale, that's not exactly difficult. Buy a job lot of something in-demand cheaply, sell it on eBay, and you're making money already, with no set-up costs.

If you want to dip your toe in the water before you commit to actually buying anything, then you can just sell things that you've got lying around in the house. Search through that cupboard of stuff you never use, and you'll probably find you've got a few hundred dollars' worth of stuff lying around in there! This is the power of eBay: there is always someone who wants what you're selling, whatever it might be, and since they've come looking for you, you don't even need to do anything to get them to buy it.

So you want to get started on eBay? Well, that's great! There are only a few little things you need to learn to get started. On next time we will give you the lowdown.

Remembering 9/11

Nine years ago on September 11th, I watched the events unfold on tv in a hotel in Tempe, Arizona.  I had been sent there by Wireless Retail for training.  At the time I had the opportunity to start up cell phone kiosks in Sam's Clubs, Walmarts and Kmarts in the Pittsburgh area. During that time I operated eleven locations in two states and managed about thirty five employees. So it was a good time, but I remember planes not flying for a portion of the week. When I returned home by plane on Saturday, well airports have not been the same since.

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

The vital force of labor added materially to the highest standard of living and the greatest production the world has ever known and has brought us closer to the realization of our traditional ideals of economic and political democracy. It is appropriate, therefore, that the nation pay tribute on Labor Day to the creator of so much of the nation's strength, freedom, and leadership — the American worker.

So, how do you do 'due diligence' anyway?

So, how do you do 'due diligence' anyway?

by Dr. Jeffrey Lant
To get more articles and talk to our LIVE staff in the member
area sign up here:
If you move in entrepreneurial circles like I do, you're
sure to hear two words over and over again: 'due diligence.'

These words refer to the process of scrutiny and
analysis you're supposed to go through before you
invest in any business opportunity.

Sadly, however, the words themselves are far more
known and used than the actual vetting process itself.
People talk about 'due diligence,' but fail to do it.
That is, I think, because they just don't know what
to do. Let's change that right now.

Here are 8 steps you can use the next time you're
thinking of joining any business opportunity of any

1) What will the company actually share with you?
'Due diligence' is professional analysis. But it can't
work until you have meaningful intelligence to
review. Just what does this company provide? Be
careful when you consider this point because 'more'
doesn't mean 'better.' What you want to know is
how long they've been in business, details about its
leadership (are its executives known and respected?),
the value of its products, its competition and place
in the market,etc.

2) How easy is it to get this useful information?
Where are these data? How easily can you access them?
How clear is the presentation? If you have to jump
through endless hoops getting the details you need
BEFORE you enter the company, imagine how difficult
it will be AFTER!

3) Can you talk to a LIVE person? Lots of so-called
'opportunities' make no effort to understand why
people like you and me need to talk to real people before
plunking down our hard-earned cash. People, in short,
like their questions answered and concerns dealt with
by other people, not just by posted messages. Is a real
person available to you, and just how difficult it is to
reach this person?

4) Are they a Better Business Bureau member? The
BBB is a well-known organization that's in business to
make sure both consumers and businesses get timely
help. All businesses get complaints. The question is
how the company deals with them. A business' file
and overall record at the BBB can be very helpful in
your research. And if the company you're researching
isn't a member? Caveat emptor.

5) Do you understand how money is made in this
opportunity? Every business hires good copywriters
like me who are skilled at exciting prospects. We can
do it in our sleep. That's why you need to get past the
motivating language and see what you actually have
to do to make money. Until you are clear on that, you
shouldn't join ANY opportunity, no matter how wonderful
it seems.

6) Do you have the skills, desire, aptitude and
experience to follow the steps which are necessary
to succeed in the opportunity you're reviewing? This
is closely related to Point 5 above. Don't assume --
whatever the company says -- that anyone can make
money in the opportunity, that you don't need any
particular skills, and that even a child can profit.
Be candid with yourself before so that you don't
lament after.

7) Will anyone help you succeed? The sad fact is,
the average opportunity offers no help beyond a few
printed guidelines. That isn't help; it's lack of help!
Be direct with the company's representative you're
talking to (you are talking to someone, I trust) about
how you get help, the level, frequency, means of
getting it, etc. Everyone needs help; be clear on
how you get it and necessary training from the folks
you are considering joining (and paying).

8) Does what the company say make good sense?
My father used to say there is nothing less common than
common sense. Here, however, is where you need it.
When you look past the hype and marketing promises
(and remember, high-priced marketers like me are
experts in dishing it out), does what the company say
ring true... or are they just making one 'pie-in-the-sky'
promise after another? You need to be cautious,
conservative and thoughtful here to avoid crying
in your beer later.

Lots of folks give nothing more than lip service to
due diligence. Yes, it's necessary, but who has time
in these busy days? The truth is, the amount of time and
effort you expend on your due diligence is a direct
reflection on how serious you are about business success
and any individual opportunity in particular. In short,
it's essential.

Last piece of advice: print out this article and file it
away. It could be well a lot of money and piece of mind
in all your future endeavors!

Just what are affiliate programs?

SUBJECT: Just what are affiliate programs?

As you all know by now I am an affiliate marketer. A lot of people
have all kinds of questions. Let me begin here....

Are you looking for a relatively easy way to make money online?
If you have been doing research online, you may have come across
programs that are known or referred to as affiliate programs.
Affiliate programs are a great way to make money online, but do
you really know what they are? If not, you are urged to read

Before examining affiliate programs, namely what they are, it is
best if you first familiarize yourself with internet marketing.
All business owners need to market their business to the general
public. Since all online customers are internet users, online
business owners need to market their products or services to the
internet community. This is where the term internet marketing
comes from. A wide variety of different marketing tactics are
considered internet marketing. Just one of those marketing
tactics is affiliate programs. What is nice about affiliate
programs is that they not only benefit online business owners,
but they also benefit other webmasters; webmasters just like

When an online business owner, who is selling a product or
service, wants to increase their sales, they seek assistance
from other webmasters. This assistance is typically sought from
webmasters who have a website that is, in one way or another,
related to the product or service being sold. For instance, if
the product being sold is a work at home e-book, webmasters
running work at home business sites are likely to be sought
after. If and when this partnership is formed, the exact
details will be worked out. In most cases, you, the webmaster,
will be asked to display links or banners that lead the other
website; the one where the product, in this case a work at home
e-book is available for sale.

As it was mentioned above, affiliate programs are a great way
for online business owners to increase their sales and profits,
but they are not the only ones who benefit from affiliate
programs; webmasters do as well. Business owners who run an
affiliate program usually work in conjunction with an affiliate
tracking company. This company uses cookies and other internet
technology to track internet user clicks. This means that if an
internet users clicks on one of your affiliate links and ends up
making a purchase, the tracking software used will record that
purchase, when it occurred, and the amount of it. This allows
business owners to know exactly how much you helped them out.
In turn, you will be rewarded for this assistance.

What A Woodpecker Can Teach You About Online Survival

Got any woodpeckers in your neighborhood?

The next time you see a woodpecker watch him for a while. Think about how the woodpecker spends EVERY DAY of his life. The woodpecker must peck, peck, peck away all day and every day looking for food. It’s a matter of survival. The woodpecker doesn’t peck frantically for a few hours then take the afternoon off to snooze on a comfy branch. The woodpecker doesn’t peck frantically for one week straight to fill his tummy, then take a 2 day break snuggled up in his nest. Instead, he pecks away continually, rain or shine. If he doesn’t find food in one place he is off to the next tree to find a tasty morsel. He doesn’t give up when the first 3 trees have no bugs, throw his wings up in the air and say I quit! The woodpecker knows what you need to know: survival requires continuous pecking. In your case, your success is 100% dependent on your continous pecking strategies for the survival of your business.

In my line of work I talk to marketers, entrepreneurs, and home business operators everyday. Just like in all walks of life you have all kinds of personalities from a variety of background and skills. The backgrounds are diverse but they all bring one thing in common to the table. Essentially a dogma of what they can (or are willing to) do TODAY to build their business.

I am always amazed at how people approach building their home business or business opportunity. Some will bite in like a dog on a bone and go hard for a month, then let go and I never hear from them again. Others study, analyze, learn, listen, think and digest but never get to the part of actually DOING anything. Some will find fault or make the most clever excuses for why they can’t work their business.

Then there are my favorites, I call these people, the woodpeckers.

These are the people that give a 100% effort to building their business EVERY day. Like the woodpecker they peck away at the daily required tasks of building their business to call prospects, promptly reply to email, promote their business, take care of customers, generate leads, build their mailing list, generate traffic, network with others, solve problems as they happen, plan and prepare. If one strategy is not producing results they peck away trying to find a more productive outcome, or they peck at another approach, a new angle, a new offer, a new promotion, or new goals. They are not content to give up. They don’t try and accomplish everything in one day, they work daily, steadily, consistently pecking away to get to their goals. Like the woodpecker they know not to overextend themselves and bite off more of the worm than they can chew. Instead they peck away daily at the necessary tasks being sure to maintain a balance with other important aspects of their life.

The Woodpecker’s attitude is a realistic one, he has to search out food every day to survive and feed himself and his young. No one is going to show up at his nest everyday and hand over the bugs. The wise entrepreneur also has a realistic attitude, he or she may not want to do a certain mundane task but knows it is a requirement of building a successful business. He knows that he or she must do the work to earn the success. For our feathered friend the woodpecker, some days the worms may be juicier than others, sometimes the tasty worms are hard to come by and only the bitter bugs are available. Some months there will be more and larger bugs than other months, but the woodpecker (YOU) will have to just keep on pecking away.

You are minutes from changing your life forever. Success can be yours

Millions of people worldwide want to make extra money with their own home-based Internet business.

Publishers Note: Millions of people worldwide want to make
extra money with their own home-based Internet business.
Sadly, these folks overwhelmingly fail when they try to do
business online. To help them, we sought out one of the
world's most well-known business authorities, Dr. Jeffrey Lant.

We found Dr. Lant in his home office right across the
street from Harvard University, from which he has 2 degrees
and overlooking the spot where General George Washington
took command of the Continental Army in 1775.

Q: Dr. Lant, how long have you been a home-based
entrepreneur, and how long have you been advising
people how to profit online?

Dr. Lant: I've been advising folks how to succeed in
small and home businesses and nonprofit organizations
for over 30 years and have focused on assisting people
succeed online in their home business since 1994.

Q: What's the first thing a home-based entrepreneur
should do when deciding to make money online?

Dr. Lant: Candidly, the first thing these entrepreneurs
must do is realize that in all important aspects there is
no difference between running an online and an offline
business. Both are BUSINESSES and must be approached

Many 'net newbies have the crazy notion that you
can just post information online while waiting to
bank the profits. Online businesses take the same
focus and dedication as offline businesses.

Q: What next?

Dr. Lant: Get a domain. The Internet is a domain-
structured environment. That is, you must have your
own domain if you expect to build a profitable

Lots of newbies get confused by this. They join
a business opportunity, and get a self-replicating
website. Then they think they've got a domain.
Of course they don't! Domains are real estate
that you own. YOU determine how big they get;
YOU determine what goes on them. In all senses
they are YOUR property and must be treated
as such.

Q: After you get your domain, what then?

Dr. Lant: THINK BIG! The average home-based
entrepreneur is a small thinker. They are trying
to sell just one or a very few products or services.
This is fine if you want minimum profits, but if
you're ambitious you must take what you're selling
today and brainstorm what other products your
customers will want. Go to Google, and start searching
for additional, related products. At all times, focus
on building, adding, diversifying and expanding
your site and what you sell.

Q: Dr. Lant, we have time for just one more
piece of good advice. What does every home-
based entrepreneur need on their website that
they don't have?

Dr. Lant: In a word, INTERACTIVITY!

The first stage of the 'net was where folks
posted a passive website. That was great at
the time, but time has definitely moved on.
Now your customers want you to give them
superior customer service, not just a 'contact us'

You need to be able to greet your visitors,
answer their questions, make offers, take
orders and build relationships. This can only
be done with interactivity. ALL home-based
entrepreneurs need it, since interactivity
dramatically increases profits.

Q: As always, Dr. Lant, good, sound
advice. Thanks for sharing.

Dr. Lant: My pleasure.

Life is About Choices and the Decisions We Make

Life is like a road. There are long and short roads; smooth and rocky roads; crooked and straight paths. In our life many roads would come our way as we journey through life. There are roads that lead to a life of single blessedness, marriage, and religious vocation. There are also roads that lead to fame and fortune on one hand, or isolation and poverty on the other. There are roads to happiness as there are roads to sadness, roads towards victory and jubilation, and roads leading to defeat and disappointment.

Just like any road, there are corners, detours, and crossroads in life. Perhaps the most perplexing road that you would encounter is a crossroad. With four roads to choose from and with limited knowledge on where they would go, which road will you take? What is the guarantee that we would choose the right one along the way? Would you take any road, or just stay where you are: in front of a crossroad?

There are no guarantees.

You do not really know where a road will lead you until you take it. There are no guarantees. This is one of the most important things you need to realize about life. Nobody said that choosing to do the right thing all the time would always lead you to happiness. Loving someone with all your heart does not guarantee that it would be returned. Gaining fame and fortune does not guarantee happiness. Accepting a good word from an influential superior to cut your trip short up the career ladder is not always bad, especially if you are highly qualified and competent. There are too many possible outcomes, which your really cannot control. The only thing you have power over is the decisions that you will make, and how you would act and react to different situations.

Wrong decisions are always at hindsight.

Had you known that you were making a wrong decision, would you have gone along with it? Perhaps not, why would you choose a certain path when you know it would get you lost? Why make a certain decision if you knew from the very beginning that it is not the right one. It is only after you have made a decision and reflected on it that you realize its soundness. If the consequences or outcomes are good for you, then you have decided correctly. Otherwise, your decision was wrong.

Take the risk: decide.

Since life offers no guarantee and you would never know that your decision would be wrong until you have made it, then you might as well take the risk and decide. It is definitely better than keeping yourself in limbo. Although it is true that one wrong turn could get you lost, it could also be that such a turn could be an opportunity for an adventure, moreover open more roads. It is all a matter of perspective. You have the choice between being a lost traveler or an accidental tourist of life. But take caution that you do not make decisions haphazardly. Taking risks is not about being careless and stupid. Here are some pointers that could help you choose the best option in the face of life’s crossroads:
· Get as much information as you can about your situation.

You cannot find the confidence to decide when you know so little about what you are faced with. Just like any news reporter, ask the 5 W’s: what, who, when, where, and why. What is the situation? Who are the people involved? When did this happen? Where is this leading? Why are you in this situation? These are just some of the possible questions to ask to know more about your situation. This is important. Oftentimes, the reason for indecision is the lack of information about a situation.

· Identify and create options.

What options do the situation give you? Sometimes the options are few, but sometimes they are numerous. But what do you do when you think that the situation offers no options? This is the time that you create your own. Make your creative mind work. From the most simplistic to the most complicated, entertain all ideas. Do not shoot anything down when an idea comes to your head. Sometimes the most outrageous idea could prove to be the right one in the end. You can ask a friend to help you identify options and even make more options if you encounter some difficulty, but make sure that you make the decision yourself in the end.

· Weigh the pros and cons of every option.

Assess each option by looking at the advantages and disadvantages it offers you. In this way, you get more insights about the consequences of such an option.

· Trust yourself and make that decision.

Now that you have assessed your options, it is now time to trust yourself. Remember that there are no guarantees and wrong decisions are always at hindsight. So choose… decide… believe that you are choosing the best option at this point in time.

Now that you have made a decision, be ready to face its consequences: good and bad. It may take you to a place of promise or to a land of problems. But the important thing is that you have chosen to live your life instead of remaining a bystander or a passive audience to your own life. Whether it is the right decision or not, only time can tell. But do not regret it whatever the outcome. Instead, learn from it and remember that you always have the chance to make better decisions in the future.

en·tre·pre·neur [ahn-truh-pruh-nur, -noor] a person who organizes....
. and manages any enterprise, especially a business, usually with considerable initiative and risk.
